Glen Hansard To Be Featured on The Hunger Games Soundtrack??

One of Mockingjay.net’s readers emailed them with a tip about a potential artist who might be featured on the upcoming Hunger Games Soundtrack.

“At a concert in Berlin in October 2011, Academy Award-winner Glen Hansard announced that he would be featured on the movie’s soundtrack album of The Hunger Games and played a song written from Katniss’s perspective.”

While we don’t have a video of Glen making the announcement, here is a clip of him performing Come Away, back on September 29th. Some believe this particular song to be Hunger Games inspired, listen closely to how he introduces the song!

Lyrics:

Come away little lass, come away to the water to the arms that are reaching only for you. Come away little lass, come away to the water to the ones appointed to see it through. We are calling to you.

Come away little lad, come away to the laughter to the path that is open wide to the new. Come away little lad come away to the laughter to the one last promise to always hold true. We are calling for you. We are coming for you.

Come away little lamb, come away to the water To the ones who were lost and don’t know what to do. Come away little lamb, come away to the slaughter. Give yourself up so we may live anew. We are coming for you. We are calling for you.

Come away little lass, come away to the water to the ones that are waiting home for you. Come away little lad, come away to the slaughter to the ones who appointed to see it through. We are calling to you x2

Hansard is an Academy Award winner having won in 2007 for Best Original Song for Falling Slowly from the soundtrack to the film Once, in which he also starred.

This is all still rumor at this point, but what would you think of Glen Hansard appearing on the soundtrack for The Hunger Games? Let us know in the comments.

  • If this is the song being used, then I am on board 100%. I can definitely see if playing as Katniss boards the train to the Capitol and then watches as District 12 fades away om the distance…

  • If it is, this is awesome. This is the right feel and the words behind this song certainly reflect a certain side to the Hunger Games.

Ugh, I love Glen. And this song. It’s so perfect for THG. It would be so awesome for the movie— and him— if it was on the soundtrack. I hope it is.
