Last week, The Hunger Games topped the USA Today Bestselling Book List for the first time ever since it’s release in October of 2008.  Thanks to strong holiday sales and the movie buzz it’s proven it has staying power, landing a second week at the top of the charts.  It has also proven the power of the e-book, as currently that version is outselling the paperback.

We are also very excited to report that both Catching Fire and Mockingjay are making strides forward on the list as well (also as ebooks).  Catching Fire took a huge jump from #7 last week and has landed in the #2 slot, while Mockingjay leaped from #8 to #4.

I have to say, I’ve witnessed the excitement and sales of the book increasing in person, as in the past week, we have had numerous calls checking on whether the books were in stock, and patrons asking us to hold copies for them as well.  Just yesterday, a young woman called excitedly asking for the full trilogy, when I explained we were sold out of The Hunger Games, she still asked us to hold Catching Fire and Mockingjay for her and actually squealed and jumped in the air when she picked up the books.

Our fandom is growing quickly!

Congratulations again to Suzanne Collins and to Scholastic!
