It looks like Gary Ross has the same directing style as William Wyler, a long-gone Hollywood director who was known for his ability to set up a scene and just let the emotions shine. Josh is the perfect actor for that style, too.

AH! It’s wonderful! But I really, REALLY wish that they hadn’t released this one. This was one of the really big pre-Arena scenes that I was waiting to see, and I would’ve preferred for it to be kept secret until the movie was out. But as much as I wish they hadn’t released it, I’m SO glad to see it, and to see that I like it. /conflictingemotions

Regardless…I love the way Haymitch had this conspiratory smile as the start of the segment. A part of me can’t believe that this was released which IMHO is one of the biggest surprises of the book.

I also think Josh Hutcherson nailed it! Too bad we can’t see the whole exchange. I want to see him kidding around with Ceasar.

That’s exactly what I was thinking about Haymitch’s little grin as he walked over to the screen. I love that he did that. I feel like they shouldn’t have released it and I shouldn’t have watched it, but if Hutch is in it I can’t stay away.
