The Hunger Games is dominating not only at the box office but at the bookstore as well. USA Today reports that this is the 11th time this year that The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay have taken the top 3 spots, but now the box set of the trilogy has moved up to grab the #4 slot. And unlike in the past, this time the print versions are outselling their e-book counterparts.
All this comes amidst updated figures from Scholastic as to the total books of the trilogy in print. In a press release yesterday Scholastic confirmed there are now 36.5 million copies of the three books in print in the US alone. A whopping 17.5 million of The Hunger Games, 10 million of Catching Fire and 9 million for Mockingjay. And with the film not slowing down at the box office, new readers are expected to continue to flock to the series.
Congratulations to Suzanne Collins and to Scholastic!
