Lenny Kravitz’s Newest Project: Furniture?

4/26/2012Lenny Kravitz

There is an interesting new post on New Now Next about Lenny Kravitz’s latest project. Instead of the music or movies that fans would expect, this project is centered around chairs. Yes, you read that correctly– chairs.

Kravitz actually founded his own design studio in 2003, where his team of designers works on everything from luxury condos to hotels. This collab with [Phillipe] Stark, is being produced by Italian furniture company Kartell.

Kravitz started with Stark’s famed Mademoiselle chairs and went from there. “[Stark] gave me a lot of freedom. So we basically did what we did and he gave his opinions and edited. And of course the piece was already designed, the Mademoiselle chair, which is completely iconic. He’s done his job, right? So it was just about reinterpreting it.” The result? An updated, more comfortable take on a classic. The chairs are currently on view in Milan.

It’s not a far cry from his character Cinna– can’t you see Cinna designing a line of actually functional chairs in the Capitol, where most seats would be anything but practical? Though this new line of products will probably not cater to the majority of Hunger Games fans, support for our Cinna is always appreciated! Let us know what you think of the designs, which can be viewed here, in the comments!

  • Love it! Of course at first glance I thought Lenny was sitting in a futuristic Laundromat with those things in the background. LOL
