Carolina Chocolate Drops Talk Their Song on ‘Hunger Games’ Soundtrack

5/25/2012Score/Soundtrack

Earlier this week, we mentioned that Songs From District 12 and Beyond has recently been certified GOLD. One of the artists on the successful soundtrack is The Carolina Chocolate Drops, who performed the song “Daughter’s Lament.” NJ.com recently sat down with band member, Rhiannon Giddens, to discuss the track they contributed to the film.

“What struck me was her (the main character Katniss Everdeen) father’s mining accident and her background,” she said. “And that’s what I wrote about in the song.”

In addition to speaking about the track, Giddens discussed her preparation in writing the song, and said she quickly downloaded all three books. She said that she read them in three days, and “was so inspired by them.”

What do you think of their track on the soundtrack? Let us know in the comments below!
