Finnick Casting On-Going; Audition Scenes Revealed!

Zap2it is now reporting that E! may have jumped the gun in naming three front runners for Catching Fire‘s Finnick Odair late last night. An unnamed source close to the site reveals that casting is ongoing for Mr. Odair as well as which scenes potential-Finnicks will have to navigate through to nab the role:

Zap2it’s source says nobody’s in the lead just yet considering talks only began on Tuesday (May 29). Actors are still reading for the role, and the studio is strongly considering bringing in an unknown to avoid ego clashes on set. It’s easy to understand the mix-up — someone probably got their hands on the confidential memo going around that reveals the three men are currently on the shortlist of dudes we’d love to marry in a fantasy dream world. (Honestly, any list with those three guys on it is a win-win-win situation.)

The scenes the actors are reportedly reading for the role include the sugar cube scene where Finnick first meets Katniss and the scene where he hears Annie’s scream.

So, while we may not be near the end of Finnick casting, it looks like it is in full swing with actor’s currently (like right now!) reading for the role!

I’m not even going to comment on actors; I don’t watch enough movies to have an opinion, but I think it’s great which scenes they picked for the actors to read. They represent the two major parts of Finnick, the sex god and the broken victor (who’s also a poster-child for PTSD). Can’t wait.

Teen heart throb isn’t a qualification. Needs to more than “look” the part although being the right age would help. Early thirties. Gaelic. California beachboy looks. Has to be able to carry comedy but show the depth and cleverness underneath that was Finnick Odair – totally committed soldier to bringing down Panem for his District, for “the Mockingjay” for his Annie and child he would willingly gave his life. Has to be the sort of man who would inspire someone like Mags to go the distance even to the point of death for him.
