Tom Felton Wants to Play Finnick

Crossing fandoms is always an interesting topic, especially when it’s between The Hunger Games and Harry Potter. Hypable recently chatted with Tom Felton, who revealed that he and his girlfriend are huge Hunger Games fans.
The 24-year-old “Harry Potter” star revealed that he’s a big “Hunger Games” fan. “I was there at the Hunger Games premiere,” Tom told me exclusively. “I was very impressed. My girlfriend is an avid reader of the books and told me that I had to go and see this film. It’s awesome. It speaks for itself and the I can’t wait for the next one.”
So, would he want a part in “Catching Fire”? “For sure,” Tom dished. “I’ve been reading into this Finnick character. He’s a pretty awesome character. You never know! Fingers crossed. One day, you never know.”

I think he comes with too much acting baggage from the Harry Potter franchise for people to really take him seriously as Finnick. Plus I don’t think he has enough of a physical presence to pull off the role. He’s barely taller than Josh and Finnick needs to be much taller than that. At least 6′ in my opinion.

if he could bulk up for the role, he could do it. He’d need to put on like 25 pounds of muscle. But I can see it. The guy can act, and he’s good looking.

I agree with you on the bulking up part. He seems a little too scrawny.
Although he’s a pretty good actor, I never thought he was overly good-looking. But besides, it would never happen, just like how no one from Twilight will be in it.

There’s a reason why no one from Twilight is going to be in it. Tom Felton is insanely talented and you never know, if he bulked up he could look the part. I would much rather prefer they pick a truly talented actor over just another pretty face. Plus he’s got a lot of charm and charisma. I would love it if he was Finnick.

He seems like such a nice guy in real life, and I was impressed with the growth in his acting ability over the course of the HP movies. But I don’t know if he’s quite skilled enough or good-looking enough to handle Finnick.

I was just re-reading Chapter 16 and 17 thinking about what part might suit Felton and I started think there are so many amazing parts for character actors and even new acting discoveries in this movie.
I really hope they think boldly about creating an ‘ensemble’ cast for the Quarter Quell Tributes. In particular I hope they don’t shy away from casting people who look as damaged as some of these old victors are — for example I really, really hope they cast someone who is actually an amputee to play Chaff. How powerful would that be to have someone, maybe who was actually wounded in one of our real wars playing that part, being hurt but strong at the same time!
Yeah, Finnick is a key role, but looking back at Hunger Games movie, I think the brilliant casting for the smaller supporting roles — Prim. Cinna, Effie, Haymitch, Snow, Seneca — turned out to be just as important as who got cast in the leads.

I not nov why I like this but i think i do. I never thought of him for it maybe becouse he is to recanesable as draco but he is a chutie and he could pull this off.

OMG loved him as Malfoy in Harry Potter! I don’t think he’s a Finnick type though. Sorry but wrong body. He could be cast as Beetee or someone in Mockingjay though! I want him to be in the Hunger Games but not as Finnick though

Oh Tom, I love you dearly, and you made HBP actually watchable, but don’t count on it. I think it’s safe to assume that if they blacklisted Twilight actors, they’ve blacklisted Potter actors as well. Franchise crossover is a no-no.

I think Jesse Spencer is the perfect Finnick. Handsome, strong, and he could totally fill the profile. Besides, age aproppiate.

Well I really like Tom Felton. He was an absolutely perfect Malfoy and a magnificent actor.
Despite that, he is NOT my Finnick. Definitely not my Finnick.
Then again, Lenny wasn’t my Cinna at first, and now Lenny=Cinna is the only way I can imagine him.
I suppose I’ll have to place my trust in the hands of the casting director.

well i think he can be finnick . why because finnick isn’t just pretty face and all sure at beginning he seems like that and all but he’s truly broken inside .. the guy’s lost everything . and i can see tom giving this part actually bringing the character to life . he had a great job as draco and i no he will do great job as finnick … hes talented and smart he knows what’s good for him so hes got my vote

Guys, I think at the end of the day, we’re never going to be happy with the casting of Finnick, because his whole hang up is that he’s insanely sexy and attractive, which is going to be hard to pull off. That said, I love Felton, and would be quite happy to see him pull off the role, because Tom Felton is a totally different person to Draco Malfoy, ie. no slick bleach blonde hair.

I honestly don’t know! I don’t see it really! I find Tom Felton completely unattractive on every level! He is just to dorky to play an insanely hot (undorky) character. Plus I think he’s too short! Yes it is very superficial but on the outside is what we first see and the outside of Finnick is supposed to be HOT. If he wants the role, let him audition. That’s all!

Well, just from the comments, I see why franchises shouldn’t be mixed. May people just see Tom as blond-haired snarky Malfoy. I think this proves his acting capability since Tom is actually quite charming and a brunet. Talent counts for more than looks. I mean, Effie turned out great.
