Jennifer Lawrence Negotiating a Pay Raise for ‘Catching Fire’

8/7/2012Jennifer Lawrence

Before the first film shot even a roll of footage, Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and most of the cast signed on to a 4 film deal taking them all the way through to the end of the franchise.  These original negotiations of course took place before Lionsgate knew the full power of this series at the box office.  With such a huge success behind them, we are very happy to hear that re-negotiations have taken place to make sure the films major stars see a benefit from their hard work as the films continue.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Lawrence is in the final stages of her negotiations, with reports that she could be paid in the 10 million dollar range.  This figure is a combination of salary, bonuses and escalators. Basically depending on the box-office performance of the film, she could earn even more.  Her original deal had her being paid 500,000 plus bonuses for The Hunger Games, so this is a huge step up.

THR also reports that Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth have also completed their own renegotiation for salary but not to the same level as Jennifer’s.

Considering the 683.7 million worldwide haul for The Hunger Games, and the chances for Catching Fire to go even higher, we’d say a raise is definitely in order!

That’s awesome for them….I will never see that much money in my life!!

  • I’m glad they got a pay raise. Their performances were brilliant in the first movie. From now on, Jen will be an actress because she likes to do it. She won’t need the money.

I’m also glad they’re working on other movies in between. There’s some danger at this point the young actors in major roles — Jen, Josh, and Liam — will be forever associated with their HG roles and unable to outgrow them. Look what happened to Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher after the Star Wars movies. That franchise made a star of nobody but Harrison Ford.

Wow I totally agree with You Betty cross. :D

    • I disagree with you on that. If an actress/actor has the talent– which Jen does way beyond her years– they won’t only outgrow, but surpass their previous performances. I’m not sure of the others in the HG franchise, but Jen definitely has what it takes to become the next Meryl Streep, and yes, I’m aware that this phrase is used way too often, but it fits most accurately to describe Jennifer’s potential.

Ok, and in my last comment, in not saying that they need money, I’m saying if they do a good job, they could get more. Just saying. And a good performance means a lot to them. Exspecally jen. And, awesome preformences, are WAY better than money. Just sayin! :)
