Trish Summerville Has Signed on as Costume Designer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

8/29/2012Catching Fire

Entertainment Weekly is now reporting that Trish Summerville (Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) has signed on as costume designer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.  Summerville will be taking on the position which was held by Judianna Makovsky for The Hunger Games film.

Fans of the Suzanne Collins book know that Summerville — who started her career as a costume assistant on films like Girl, Interrupted and later served as personal stylist to Christina Aguilera  – will be responsible for conjuring up Katniss’ wedding dress, which looks at first to be standard issue bridal attire but eventually goes up in flames to reveal a feathered (and winged) mockingjay gown.

Summerville’s heroine chic costumes for the 2011 adaptation of Dragon Tattoo earned her an award from Hollywood’s Costume Designers Guild.

While we are sorry to see Judianna Makovsky go, we are very excited to see what Trish brings to the franchise.  Let us know your thoughts on the change up in the comments!
