Airtime Assault #70: Hunger Games Fan Transforms his Lawn into a Mockingjay

9/6/2012Airtime Assault

Fans do so many different things to show their love of the series, and Brian Addison from East Tennessee, decided to showcase his love by creating the Mockingjay symbol from the Catching Fire cover on his lawn.

Check out the video below:

“So the mockingjay is superimposed on this clock which has roman numerals,” he said as he pointed to the picture he outlined on paper. He used stakes to outline a circle in his yard.

“In order to plot the mockingjay and the clock face and everything else I had to cut it into quadrants with a string,” he explained.

He finished it with a mower, weed eater, and paint.

“I had to get the grass growing up the right height to where I could cut it two or three different levels then plotted it out,” he said.

He put a sign in his front yard and posted on Twitter and facebook inviting people to check out his back yard.

“I had some good responses about it,” he said.

The best angle is from above but you can make out the mockingjay at ground level or grass level.

Brian Addison says his landlord depends on him to keep the lawn cut.

“I sent him a picture this morning and I said I’m going to make his yard famous for just a few minutes,” he said with a laugh.

This is WAY COOL!
