A northern New Jersey blog is reporting today that crew connected with Catching Fire have been seen filming in an area of the Ringwood State Park (pictured left):
A source with knowledge of the production confirmed that crews were filming scenes for the highly anticipated sequel, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” It’s not known whether the star of the series Jennifer Lawrence was in Oakland for the scenes.
About a half dozen semi trailers unloading tripods and other equipment have been seen near the entrances to Ringwood State Park. The vehicles have occasionally caused a backup of traffic on Skyline Drive.
While it’s unknown if any of the talent connected to The Hunger Games is there, it should be noted that Jennifer Lawrence has been in New York City for Saturday Night Live and various press appearances for the last week or so; and North Jersey is only a hop, skip, and a jump from NYC.
As for what they’re filming– only Francis Lawrence and his crew know that for sure, but we’re speculating that they may be filming some District 12 forest scenes that require a snowy backdrop (hence why they’re in New Jersey and not Georgia).
What do you think the Catching Fire crew is up to in NJ? Let us know in the comments!

It’s strange to think they are only 2 miles away from my house. i drive up and down that road every single day. I did see some random guy standing off to the side once around noon and then again 4 hours later. security guard? I have no idea why they would need HUGE bulldozers. two of them. still really awesome that a crew like this is around here. it might be for the district 12 scenes but it’s been really, REALLY foggy the past few weeks (had some awesome pictures and almost got lost a few times). That said, this setting would work for the poisonous burning fog part (Catching Fire Chapter 21) RIP Mags.

I’ve been stuck in traffic a couple of times and I was wondering what was going on but this is pretty awesome. I live in Ringwood and I’ve gone hiking in the state park a bunch of times. It would be really amazing to see a place I recognized in the movie. The fog was pretty bad for a while but lately there hasn’t been much snow, only bitter cold winds so I don’t know what they’d be filming but I know that they’re probably freezing.
