Josh Hutcherson Talks His Post-Hunger Games Life
May 8th

Even before the movie was released, Josh Hutcherson already had many fans who knew he was going to be in The Hunger Games playing Peeta, and even identified him from past movies as well. Now that The Hunger Games has made its mark at the box office, many would think Hutcherson would have trouble going back to “life as normal.” MTV recently sat down with the young actor, and found out that even with his newly revamped fame, Hutcherson still gets to do the things he did before the Hunger Games madness.
“I was expecting it to be a huge difference and it hasn’t been, and I can’t tell you how relieved that I am. It’s been so low-key and people who do recognize me have been awesome, cool and not crazy.”
With his surprise trip to UCLA to promote Straight But Not Narrow, it appears he’s speaking the truth, as some fans walked by without even acknowledging him! In addition to his fame, Hutcherson spoke of his love for tattoos.
“The last one I got was six months ago. I have like an anchor ship creation on my back; it’s like an old sailor Jerry tattoo kind of thing. I love that old, traditional style.”
It’s great to hear that he’s not being too overwhelmed by the success of The Hunger Games! Hopefully it lasts, as lots of Catching Fire news will hopefully be coming in any day now, adding more fire to the flame

Archive: Josh Hutcherson 2007 Interview — Always a Prankster!
May 3rd
We found the cutest interview with Josh Hutcherson in 2007 from Portrait Magazine. Turns out even back then he was pulling pranks and getting pranks pulled on him! It’s good to know some things never change…
All about wedgies…
Best moment on set
I’ll remember when I was filming Journey 3D before the holidays and one of the scenes was that I was helping Brendan Fraser who plays my uncle in the movie, pull him up off this cliff and I did this on purpose. I reached down and give him the biggest wedgie ever! And they got it on camera! It was the best! But the bad thing was that he got me back one day when we were filming.Worst moment on set
When I got the wedgie from him. It was really embarrassing! It felt like it went on forever but it was awesome yet horrible! Most embarrassing moment
Getting the wedgie… lol

The Washington Post Gets 60 Seconds with Josh Hutcherson
May 1st
At Time/People’s pre-dinner reception before the White House Correspondents’ Dinner this past weekend, The Washington Post was able to sneak in a 60 second interview with Josh Hutcherson. Not much time, but they squeezed a lot of topics in including, The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Francis Lawrence and Punk’d.
So has your life changed a lot since “Hunger Games”? Is there something palpably different?
Hutcherson: No. The run-up beforehand was a lot more crazy. Now it’s calmed down a lot. In the beginning, it was absolutely unreal. Now I’m just enjoying it.
And how do you feel about the new director, Francis Lawrence, for “Catching Fire”? Have you gotten a chance to talk with him?
Hutcherson: I haven’t met him yet, actually. But I’ve heard nothing but awesome things about him. I love Gary [Ross] so I’m sad to see him go. But I think at the same time, Francis is going to bring a lot to the table.
I saw that you were on “Punk’d” recently. Did you really have no idea what was going on?’
Long pause.
Hutcherson: I had a hankering that something was up. But I wasn’t fully aware of the situation until the very end.
You were suspicious.
Hutcherson: I have a pretty good intuition. I was able to figure out what was going on.
You can check out the full interview at the Washington Post.

Josh Hutcherson talks ‘Catching Fire,’ Gary Ross and Francis Lawrence with EW
Apr 29th
At last evening’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Entertainment Weekly had a moment to catch up with Josh Hutcherson. During their discussion, Josh told the mag, about how he learned of Gary Ross’ departure from Catching Fire and his eagerness to start shooting the film with Francis Lawrence.
Josh Hutcherson found out director Gary Ross was bowing out of the sequel, Catching Fire, in the same way that many fans did — he read it in the news.
“I called him and I was like ‘Gary what’s up? What’s happening? Tell me it’s not the truth,” said Hutcherson. “I’ve never heard someone sound more dejected on the phone than he was. He was so sad he can’t be doing it.”
Though Hutcherson said he was “sad about Gary not being there,” he explained he’s eager to start shooting Catching Fire and looks forward to working with new director Francis Lawrence, whom he referred to as “extremely talented.”
“I think we’re going to make a good movie nevertheless and I’m excited to see what Francis brings to the table,” said Hutcherson.
Much of this we have heard from Josh in other interviews. However this does confirm that he found out about Gary’s decision the same way we all did and it certainly was just as hard for him to take as it was for us. Still, like Josh we are excited to see what’s to come. We are still awaiting official word from Lionsgate and Lawrence’s camps that he has officially signed on for Catching Fire, though it seems as if perhaps that’s a formality now? We are certainly hoping we’ll hear some news this week. Here’s hoping the odds are in our favor on that note.
