Hunger Games Soundtrack artist, Glen Hansard (Take the Heartland) releases his first solo album today entitled, Rhythm and Repose. One of the bonus tracks on the deluxe edition of his album is Hansard’s version of Come Away to the Water, which he wrote and then was performed by Maroon 5 on Songs from District 12 and Beyond.
Exclaim has released a video of Glen performing the song during their exclusive session with him and it is hauntingly beautiful.

Last fall Singer/Songwriter Glen Hansard revealed his love for The Hunger Games to audiences on his tour. Glen spoke of the books and performed a song he had written that was inspired by the series titled Come Away to the Water.
It wasn’t until the final track listing for the companion album was revealed that we learned that Hansard was indeed included but he was listed for another track entitled Take the Heartland. So what happened with Come Away to the Water? Well it doesn’t appear to be forgotten either as it is listed as a song being performed by Maroon 5. Now, can we be sure these tracks are one in the same? Not at this point as there has been no official confirmation, however it certainly seems like a strong possibility.
So, what part of the books inspired Hansard to pen his Hunger Games pieces? Well, he took to his twitter on Sunday and shared with his followers where the inspiration for his tracks came from.
