‘Catching Fire’ Cast Walks the Red Carpet at the Cannes Film Festival

The cast and crew of Catching Fire are hard at work at the Cannes Film Festival. Earlier today Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Director Francis Lawrence, producers Jon Kilik and Nina Jacobson, and Lionsgate executives Patrick Wachsberger and Robert Friedman took part in a photocall to help promote the film. Later in the day they took to the red carpet in support of the red carpet premiere of Jimmy P. Check out photos of the cast at the event below.

The Cannes Film Festival began on Wednesday, with Catching Fire a part of it this year. Their presentation was this morning and pictures have been revealed of Catching Fire cast and crew in attendance at the Festival. Attendants include “Producer Jon Kilik, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairman Patrick Wachsberger, cast Liam Hemsworth, Jennifer Lawrence and Sam Claflin, Director Francis Lawrence, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairman Robert Friedman and Producer Nina Jacobson”.

ABOUT THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRETHE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence) has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (played by Josh Hutcherson). Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever. THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE is directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy written by Suzanne Collins that has sold over 50 million copies in print in the U.S. alone.

The recently released Catching Fire teaser trailer was shown to CinemaCon attendees this week on the big screen and Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, and Francis Lawrence were all there to present. It was also revealed that the teaser would begin showing in theaters soon—before screenings of Iron Man 3.

To keep us excited (and drooling), Entertainment Weekly has released more stills from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. These reveal our first looks at Katniss and Peeta on the Victory Tour and Gale in District 12.
”These are kids growing up in war who physically, emotionally can’t love somebody,” says Jennifer Lawrence about the uncomfortable triangle between District 12′s battle-weary Katniss, Peeta, and her childhood friend Gale that began in The Hunger Games. ”Katniss thinks she can’t have a crush on a boy because she’s worried about survival every single day. And she can’t be a normal 16-year-old meeting her friend out in the woods and practicing kissing because that’s not the world that they live in.”
”Jen and Liam have amazing chemistry,” says director Francis Lawrence of his young stars. ”They have a nice moment right before Katniss is reaped that is the very first thing we shot. And then when Gale has been brought in from the whipping, that’s another really nice moment they have alone.” ”This the book where you have to understand the pull Katniss feels to both Peeta and Gale,” say producer Nina Jacobson.

TV Reminder: 2013 People’s Choice Awards Air LIVE Tonight — Live Stream of Red Carpet Begins at 8 pm ET
Tonight’s the big night, Tributes! The Hunger Games is nominated for 7 People’s Choice Awards and this evening we’ll finally learn if it has reaped any accolades. (which of course we highly think it deserves!)
In addition to the nominations, we have confirmations that Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth will all be in attendance. (Katniss, Peeta and Gale under one roof, we might implode from the awesomeness of it all!)
Coverage of the event begins at 8 pm ET with a live stream of the red carpet which you can check out here.
The show begins at 9 pm ET LIVE on CBS. We are still looking for potential Live Streams of the show. So far many we thought might work, have lead right back to the red carpet stream. 
We’ll definitely update if/when we locate any. Please let us know in the comments if you’ve come across a working stream for the show.

People has revealed the stars who dazzled both on the red carpet and off this year with their Best Dressed list and our own Jennifer Lawrence makes the cut!
“She doesn’t let the clothes wear her,” Basine says of the designer looks Lawrence picked for the Hunger Games press tour. And with ensembles ranging from this backless gold gown to her copper lace sheath (both Prabal Gurung), she shows total command of style for someone so young.

Liam Hemsworth made an appearance on Good Morning America via video this morning to help promote his upcoming flick, Expendables 2, which hits theaters tomorrow. During the interview Liam also talked a bit about Catching Fire (at the 2:05 mark), and the film he’s working on now, Paranoia.
